The Young Republican Federation of San Diego needed a magazine. They wanted to get across a professional feel with conservative overtones, but also wanted to have a fresh, new look. The magazine had to be designed from scratch and Communication Design had a hand in just about ever aspect of the magazine, from developing a title to design and layout.

The design consisted of light sans serif fonts for the main magazine sections (Table of contents, Humor, Events), with a thick bold, new aged serif font for most article titles and sub heads. Although the project was extremely photograph-light, the end result is a easy to read, extremely inviting book.

One of the major difficulties came with the limited amount of color pages (8 including the covers). We overcame this with reducing the color that would show up throughout a magazine that is all color and made the flow from b/w pages to color as painless as possible (see spread in image to the right).
