These swell French folks led by producer/mixer Herve
Salters have a great sound- they've taken the best of Stereolab
and added vocals from the likes of Lateef from The Maroons. This
music is upbeat and cheerful (though the lyrics aren't) and demonstrates
an immense amount of talent on the mixing board, if not on any instruments.
The Maroons departed from their recent '80s-sounding Ambush
to give this album a lift. It's great to listen to on a night out
or just for background tunes as you're off trying to save the world.
Also included in this edition of Your Ear Bone is
Maximo Park, a blast from the early Eighties when the keyboard sound
was new. The songs on A Certain Trigger are meaningful
and emotional and have very good melodies. It's easy to get swept
up in the mood of these songs.
