If you thought big band was relegated to the 30s and 40s on huge stages you are mistaken. Big band is alive and well, though the sound has changed dramatically. The eight piece Margot, who just finished a tour with South and Something For Rockets is big and rockin. The band from Indianapolis is pure entertainment and though their music is fairly complex with the number of layers, the live show is well-reproduced.
The layers are represented on 'Vampires In Blue Dresses,' which is our first selection for this edition of Your Ear Bone. We are bringing back a few more genres along with the big band this time with Gnarls Barkley's Mowtown-esque jam 'Smiley Faces,' and Band of Horse's classic rocker, 'The Great Salt Lake.' Rounding out this edition is Bettie Serveert's 'You've Changed.' Enjoy
